We’re delighted to have sponsored the 25th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards!
We sponsored the 25th annual What’s on Stage awards, which took place on Sunday evening at the London Palladium and we were also lucky enough to be in attendance.
Huge congratulations to all nominees and winners. It was great to see such a range of talent and people being recognised for their contributions to the industry. We really enjoyed the event and thanks to you all for making theatre so special.
The awards were hosted by Mazz Murray and Gina Murray, and the awards were extra special because they’re determined solely by public votes, reflecting the preferences of theatre audiences.
Who did we see at the WhatsOnStage awards?
There were some very familiar faces from Theatreland there on the night. David Tennant, who made history by securing his fifth WhatsOnStage Award for his portrayal in “Macbeth,” accepted his award via a recorded message, but Imelda Staunton was there in person, celebrating her win for Best Performer in a Musical for “Hello, Dolly!” Additionally, Melanie La Barrie accepted the award for Best Supporting Performer in a Musical for her role in “Hadestown.”
What are the WhatsOnStage awards about?
Established in 2001, the WhatsOnStage Awards are the only major UK theatre accolades determined entirely by public votes. Over the years, they have become a way to judge audience appreciation, celebrating both established productions and emerging talents in the theatre industry.
Key Winners:
- Best New Musical: “Mean Girls” at the Savoy Theatre.
- Best New Play: “Spirited Away.”
- Best West End Show: “SIX The Musical.”
- Best Regional Production: “Oliver!” at the Chichester Festival Theatre.
- Best Performer in a Musical: Imelda Staunton for “Hello, Dolly!”
- Best Supporting Performer in a Musical: Melanie La Barrie for “Hadestown.”
- Best Takeover Performance: Layton Williams for his role as the Emcee in “Cabaret” at the Kit Kat Club.
- Best Musical Revival: Starlight Express at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre
The evening also featured live performances from productions such as “42 Balloons,” “Becoming Nancy,” “Mean Girls,” “MJ The Musical,” and “The Artist,” which were spectacular!
